The country’s premier tertiary institution, the University of Guyana (UG), will celebrate 50 years in existence three years from now, and historians are being urged to draw on the experiences of its long-serving staffers to chronicle its rich history.The call was made last evening as the university honoured 15 staffers who between them have served a total of 320 years at the institution.Addressing several UG staffers and long service awardees at the Georgetown Club, Vice Chancellor, Professor Lawrence Carrington, expressed the notion that for any history to be recorded of the facility, both written and oral, it must be based on the legacy that is being forged by the staffers.
