An exhibition ‘Inspired by Guyana’ is set to commence today at the National Arts Gallery, Castellani House, Vlissengen Road and Homestretch Avenue, Georgetown, showcasing the fascinating pieces of artist Mayya Lobova.Lobova, according to a statement issued by the National Gallery, has worked in Guyana over a period of four years.Born in St. Petersburg,Shoes From China Online, Russia to parents who were artists themselves, she earned a degree in African studies before coming to Guyana in 2006. She remained in Guyana initially for a two-year period. Followed by a second two-year period to the present, Lobova, enthused by the Guyanese surroundings, commenced her quest of painting forest animals, large and small plant life, landscapes and symbolic ‘tributes’ to persons and places.One of Mayya Lobova’s artistic pieces on display at the National Gallery.A total of 33 paintings will characterize Lobova’s exhibition which will be featured on the ground floor galleries. On Thursday October 11th at 17:00 hours Lobova will give a Gallery Talk and Power Point presentation on her work to which the public is cordially invited to attend.
